With Facebook making maximum efforts to keep their users interested in the social networking site, its bringing in every possible new features that may increase the time spend by the users viewing the profiles of their friends or simply the avg time spend by the users on Facebook. This all started with the F8 conference with launching of Timeline and many other features which have received mixed response from the users. Timeline is all about giving a new look to your Facebook profile, but some security concerns surely made it some what controversial.

Let me make it clear this post here is for my users outside India as this service is not yet available in our country. Facebook just announced this Thursday a new feature called ” Listen With “. This new feature will allow the users to listen music with their friends in a chatroom, and gives a chance to DJ the tones via services like Spotify and Rdio. Now something of this kind was available to the users in some countries in which they were able to see in the sidebar and ticker the music their friends were listening to. But difference here being that you can share the music with your friends in a chatroom, as if you are listening together in person. This new service will roll out in a few weeks time.

This is how it works. Look for the music note in the sidebar in front of the name of your online friends who are listening to music. To listen with a friend just hover over the name of the friend you want to listen music with and click on the Listen With button. The music will play through the service your friend is using. When a new song plays, you’ll come along for the ride, discovering new music while your friend DJs for you.

Not only can you listen to music together but you can chat about what the music you are listening to. You will have an option to chat about the music being shared with your friend. As other people start listening along, they’ll join the party in a group chat.

I think this is cool. You can totally control your settings to see who can listen to music along with you and see what music you are listening too. Let us know what you think of the this new service in form of your comments.
